Video Archiving Tips
- 1Act fast on tapes: Magnetic tapes degrade over time. Every year you wait increases risk of loss.
- 2Keep original files: Don't only upload to YouTube/social media. Keep uncompressed originals.
- 3Metadata matters: Add dates, locations, and people's names. Future you will thank present you.
- 43-2-1 backup rule: 3 copies, 2 different media types, 1 offsite location.
